History:

Inkubus Sukkubus are the Uks leading pagan/Gothic rock band and have been making music since 1989. Band members include Candia McKormack (vocals & lyrics), Tony McKormack (guitar, songwriting, production, vocals) and Adam Henderson (bass).

The three met at college whilst doing graphic design and due to their common interest in paganism and witchcraft they decided to form a band called Incubus Succubus. The aim of the band was to create music as a way of celebrating their beliefs. Prior to Incubus Tony was in a punk band called Screaming Dead (1980-1985). Then Tony and Adam formed Belas Knapp. The name was changed to Incubus Succubus when they teamed up with Candia.

Their first single Beltaine was subsequently released in 1989. After this certain band members drifted away and Tony & Candia continued a studio project Children Of The Moon until 1993. The material recorded here was eventually released as the album Beltaine. Tours, TV appearances and more albums followed.

In 1995 the band decided to change their name to Inkubus Sukkubus for numerological reasons. Adam rejoined the band and they adopted the use of a drum machine and

bodran to give them a very distinctive sound. They earnt the status of being the 'voice of modern-day paganism' and subsequently in 1992 the 'most downloadable goth band in the world' on the internet. More outstanding albums and several world tours followed. Hence 13 albums and 20 years later Inkubus Sukkubus have gone from strength to strength.

Live at Lammas:

On August 1st 2009 the band performed an acoustic gig in Cirencester to celebrate Lammas and 20 years in the music business. Also performing with them was Abigail Blackman (Cello) and Marcus Gulvier (Drums).

The gig was held at The Brewery Arts Centre, a small and intimate venue. The band made it feel even more homely and spiritual as they mingled amongst the audience whilst the support band played. The stage itself was set down in a sort of pit area so the audience could sit/stand above the band on the veranders. This enabled everybody to get a perfect view and hence an all round sound effect. The lighting was moody in shades of purples, blues and greens.

As usual the band sounded crisp, clear and outstanding as they cruised through a collection of their best songs from over the years. The atmosphere was chilled as we all sank cider and eat bread (made by Candia). Clearly the audience were hanging on every note and every word soaking up the feeling of celebration. The band seemed very relaxed with their performance and with each other, in perfect sync. Thanks also to The Vaults pub in town for allowing an aftershow get together for the band and the audience. A good night and plenty of drinking was had by all.

Apart from the late start due to technical problems and a few feedback problems with the sound equipment during the gig the evening was absolutely amazing, you could see why Inkubus Sukkubus have had 20 years of success and have been creating outstanding music for Pagans and the Pagan religion.
