Pagan Paths

Pagan: Derived from the latin 'paganus' which means country dweller.

Paganism: Any religious act, practice or ceremony which is not christian. Mainly the 'authentic' religions of europe which worship nature.

Witchcraft: The practice of magic.

Magic: The deliberate production of results in this world by otherworld means.

Paganism covers a wide range of beliefs, it is not based on doctrine and is extremely flexible. A pagan may choose to specialise in a certain tradition but they are always free to change and combine beliefs. Thay are in fact encouraged to pursue their own visions and inspirations to change themselves and thus the world around them. Pagans recognise the power of the natural world and acknowledge the ongoing cycle of life and death as seen in the celebrations (wheel) of the year. (See seasonal section). Equality of the sexes are also strongly emphased in the presence of the God and Goddess deities, as pagans believe a balance of male and female energy is needed to create harmony.

There are many pagan paths to follow, some of these include:

Heathen: Northern traditions including Scandinavian, Germanic and Anglo Saxon.

Wiccan: Neo Paganism, magical techniques.

Druidism: Arts and philosophy, ancient celt.

Shamanism: Spirit journeying and healing.

Egyptian: Magical and spiritual systems centering on death and rebirth.

Tha main aim of being a pagan is to believe in the existance of spiritual beings in the world around you and to form relationships with them.

Magic is an important part of pagan life but it is not a way of bending the laws of nature to suit yours or anyone elses needs. It is  however a way to raise and channel energy within you and then bring it into harmony with nature to achieve a desired result.

In the 12 years i've been a witch the spiritual world never ceases to amaze and surprise me, i'm still learning and experiencing. The path of a pagan is a never ending journey of knowledge and discovery. It can give you (if practiced honourably) power and freedom of heart beyond your imagination.

Pagan paths pages will hopefully enlighten you to the many aspects of paganism and witchcraft needed to help shape your life.

But remember:

Whatever you do will not only affect you but those around you, it's your choice no one elses.

EVERYONE WALKS THEIR OWN PATH!
